Wine and Beer Markups – applicable to all wine and beer products
Under Ontario’s legislation, on June 1, 2020 wine tax rates are scheduled to increase and beer basic tax rates are scheduled to be adjusted by an annual indexation factor.
The Ontario government has issued a tax remission Order in Council that will maintain existing wine tax rates until January 1, 2021. The Minister of Finance has also signed a regulation which would delay the indexation of the beer tax rates to December 1, 2020.
The government expects LCBO to similarly pause scheduled increases to its markups on beer and wine products. Current beer and wine markup rates will continue to apply unchanged until further notice. As we get closer to the aforementioned implementation dates, we will communicate key timelines and action items to allow for re-quoting if necessary.
