In 2023, the provincial government announced the modernization of the marketplace to create more convenience and choice for consumers. In addition to more retailers selling alcohol, it was announced that LCBO will become the exclusive wholesaler for all retail, bars and restaurants selling alcohol and a new ‘cost-plus’ wholesale pricing would be developed that was consistent for all retailers. These changes will be implemented on April 1, 2026.
At the same time, LCBO has embarked on a multi-year program called Future State Modernization (FSM) that will strengthen our IT systems, and streamline our business processes, improving our operations for our company and our stakeholders.
As we approach the launch on April 1, 2026, you should be aware the below key dates that are relevant for Specialty Service agents.
• Specialty Services agents are not impacted by the February 16 and 23 data submission deadlines noted in the trade update.
• March 24: The last day of receiving inbound Purchase Orders
• March 26: The last day to submit new items, vendor creation and complete RMA-s.
• March 27 (12pm): The last day to process customer orders in Elite. Opendock will accommodate agent pick through March 31
• March 28 to March 31: Agents will not be able to transact within the Elite system.
