At the LCBO, through Spirit of Sustainability, we are committed to influencing industry standards and encouraging the beverage alcohol industry to be more environmentally and socially conscious. 

To further strengthen our commitment in leading the highest standards in the beverage alcohol industry, we have developed a set of Product Branding Guidelines as an extension to our Supplier Code of Business Conduct.

These Guidelines ensure that products sold in our stores embrace diversity and inclusion and do not cause harm or offense to Ontario’s diverse communities regardless of gender, age, sex, race, class, religion, ethnicity, ability, language, sexual orientation, gender identity and political orientation.  

Every supplier who wishes to maintain a business relationship with the LCBO must strive to meet our Guidelines, fulfilling the applicable regulatory requirements for product labelling, composition, and advertising.

Effective today the LCBO will strive to review and evaluate products – including product names, partnership names and brand elements – to ensure that they adhere to the Guidelines.

Where a product does not align with the Guidelines, the LCBO will provide recommendations and an opportunity for the Supplier to make adjustments. And, as best practices evolve, our Guidelines will as well, and any future changes will be shared with our Suppliers.
