LCBO Store Planning and Development is responsible for the construction of all new stores, renovations, expansions and maintenance of the stores in our retail store network. There are approximately 18-20 new stores built per year, 20-30 renovations per year, plus the ongoing maintenance of all existing buildings and facilities. Projects are tendered through the Procurement and Contract Management Department. Tenders are generally "out on the street" for two weeks.
All construction projects are competitively bid. Any General Contractor can bid on LCBO projects, as long as; they are insured, part of WSIB, have a company safety policy in place, and must sign the Health & Safety Acknowledgement - LCBO Construction, Renovation and Maintenance Projects (LCB 2276) (which is included in the bid document). General Contractors are also required to meet the required bid bond and labour and performance bond specific to each project.
